Sustainability
Sustainability in the curriculum
The sustainability story at Merici
At Merici, sustainability is a big part of how we operate. We have sustainability in the curriculum, with a Sustainability Elective for students in Years 9 and 10, a specialised Stewardship unit for Year 7 Religion students, and environment-related units in all other subjects. It’s also an extra-curricular activity: our student environment team, SAM (Sustainability At Merici), is an option for students from Year 7 to 12 who are interested in making a difference at school and in the community. Finally, we seek to imbed sustainability into our everyday operations on campus, continually improving our food, energy, waste and water systems.
For more information, please contact our Sustainability Officer Felicity Maher, felicity.maher@merici.act.edu.au or our Sustainability Teacher Erin Barry, erin.barry@merici.act.edu.au.
